Elephant Medicine Conference

Loop Abroad is proud to be hosting the 2020 Virtual Elephant Medicine Conference approved by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards RACE committee as 3 CE hours for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

You are welcome to join from anywhere in the world. We are proud to be able to offer conference access for $199 only $99, which includes recorded lectures by an elephant veterinarian, a live tour of the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, a live Q&A about elephant medicine with our Academic Director Dr. Erica Ward, and live virtual vet rounds at Elephant Nature Park (ENP).

This conference is an opportunity to learn more about elephant medicine whether you are a complete beginner or have worked with elephants before.

You’ll get the chance to explore ENP, so if you’ve visited before, you can check on your old friends, and if you’ve never been, this is your chance to get up-close-and-personal with the elephants in a way that doesn’t cause them any stress at all!

Recorded Lectures

Students will be given access to the recorded lectures three days before the conference so you have plenty of time to take notes.

History of captive elephants (1 hour)

Learn the history, ethics, and the different management systems of  elephants in captivity.

Elephant anatomy and physiology (1 hour)

From trunk to tail, elephants have many unique anatomical and physiological characteristics that we will explore together in this lesson.

Elephant diseases and conditions (1 hour)

Elephants are susceptible to a variety of infectious and noninfectious diseases. Elephant veterinarians are constantly managing wounds and abscesses but they also need to be watchful for the deadly Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus Hemorrhagic Disease. This lesson will provide an overview of elephant diseases and conditions of great concern.
