Emma has also dedicated significant time to volunteer work in zoological medicine. Since 2021, she has been involved with the veterinary hospital at a major accredited zoo, where she has assisted veterinary staff in the care of diverse species ranging from small mammals and birds to large carnivores and reptiles. She is certified in wildlife chemical immobilization through the San Diego Zoological and Wildlife Academy. In 2023, she traveled to Thailand to work in a veterinary and research capacity with dogs, cats, and elephants, further expanding her experience with global animal health and conservation efforts. Her professional interests include wildlife health, surgery in zoological species, and the intersection of clinical care and conservation efforts. In her spare time, Emma enjoys strength training, reading, spending time outdoors, and playing with her pet guinea pigs. She is passionate about mentorship and enjoys helping students build confidence in their clinical skills and interactions with animals.
