Gabrielle McCullough

Program Leader

Gabrielle (Gabby) has always had a passion for environmental and wildlife conservation, particularly in the marine sector. During her third year of her undergraduate degree at St. Francis Xavier University in Canada, Gabby landed her first wildlife conservation gig in the OSA Peninsula of Costa Rica, where she worked in sea turtle and mangrove conservation. Since graduating with a degree in Aquatic Resources in May 2025, Gabby has worked in project coordination to reduce litter in the East-Coast of Canada (her home country), and has since returned to Costa Rica to continue her aspirations of working in conservation. In her Research Assistant position in Costa Rica, she has gained many valuable experiences such as presenting lectures for National Geographic, sitting in on spay and neutering surgeries for cats and dogs, and aiding in the development of a seagrass monitoring project. As a Research Assistant, Gabby has had the pleasure of working alongside Loop Abroad groups in showing them how to conduct sea turtle research whilst they travel through the OSA Peninsula, but now, she is absolutely ecstatic to be officially joining the Loop Abroad team! Speaking English, French, and beginner Spanish, Gabby loves to try to communicate with as many people as she can, sharing stories and learning as much as possible about the world and people around her. When Gabby is not in the office, she enjoys adventure to the max. She loves scuba diving with her PADI certification, surfing in hot or cold oceans, and enjoys cracking open a fresh coconut whenever possible. Exploring the outdoors and leaving the world better than she found it is the lifestyle Gabby tries to live by. Her goal is to ultimately inspire others to care deeply about our earth, and to spread goodness and positivity in every aspect of life.
