Veterinarian

Dr. Gilang is a Veterinarian with 8+ years of experience in wildlife conservation and zoo, specializing in Asian elephants. He completed his education with a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Science from Udayana University, Bali-Indonesia, in 2015. He started a wildlife career at Elephant Conservation in Bali where he and his team succeeded delivery birth to 4 elephant calves during 7 years of service. Apart from that, he has also contributed to several zoos and conservation in Indonesia, mostly as an advisor in handling elephant disease and being a leader in their breeding programs and trainer for their local vets and mahouts. He has a broad knowledge of pregnancy programs (pre-pregnancy checks), ultrasound detection of fetuses, pregnancy control using the hormone progesterone and several cases of childbirth (including cases of dystocia, daily control of elephant calf, EEHV cases after birth), daily basic treatment, nutrition, and elephant behavior. He recently live in Sweden with his wife and one daughter. Whenever he has free time, he will use it for traveling with family or having a good time with friends.
