Grace Carley is an undergraduate student at Michigan State University pursuing degrees in Animal Science and Zoology, with concentrations in Companion and Exotic Animal Biology and Animal Behavior and Neurobiology. She is on a pre-veterinary track and will attend the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine as a member of the Class of 2030. Her academic interests center on animal welfare, behavior, and hands-on clinical and field experience across a wide range of species. Grace has worked extensively with companion animals, exotics, and wildlife through clinical, research, and volunteer roles. She currently works as a veterinary assistant at a feline-only hospital, where she supports patient care, client education, and daily clinic operations. Her experience also includes undergraduate research in dairy calf immunology, with a project focused on jejunal histology. Her travel experience includes attending Loop’s 4-week Thailand Program. The experiences there strengthened her commitment to ethical animal care, cross-cultural collaboration, and immersive learning environments that connect science with real-world application. In addition to her academic and clinical work, Grace is highly involved in student leadership. She serves as President of her university’s Pre-Veterinary Medical Association and Animal Welfare Club, where she organizes educational events, guest speakers, and outreach initiatives focused on responsible animal care and professional development. She also enjoys mentoring students who are exploring careers in veterinary medicine and animal-related fields. In her free time, Grace enjoys spending time with friends and family, photography, traveling, spending time outdoors, and learning about animals through podcasts and documentaries. She especially enjoys caring for her rabbit, Alpine, and her hairless cat, Todd. She is especially fond of wildlife, has a soft spot for senior animals, and hopes to pursue a veterinary career centered on mixed species, animal welfare, behavior, and compassionate care.
