Hailey Roman

South Africa Support Staff

Hailey grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She started fostering dogs at 10 years old and quickly realized how much she enjoyed caring for animals. During her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech, she volunteered with the Pre-Vet Club and worked at a high volume spay and neuter clinic as a veterinary assistant.

She graduated in May 2022 with a Bachelors in Animal and Poultry Sciences. Hailey was accepted into the DVM Class of 2026 at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (VMCVM) and started classes in the fall of 2022. She’s had the opportunity to work in shelter, wildlife rehabilitation, and zoo medicine settings through volunteering and clinical rotations. Some of her favorite animals she’s worked with have been sloths, pangolins, and of course adorable puppies and kittens. Hailey was a student in the Thailand High School Pre-Vet Medicine Program in 2017, South Africa Zoo Medicine Program in 2022, and Support Staff for the South Africa Zoo Medicine Program during the summer of 2023. She had an incredible time during each experience and is extremely grateful for the opportunities the programs offered.

She is excited to work with Loop Abroad again and help provide students the same amazing experiences she had. In her spare time, Hailey enjoys baking, reading, catching up on TV shows, and spending time with friends. She also loves spending time with her pup Simba, whether that’s going on a hike or snuggling on the couch.
