Iago Vinicius Sá Fortes Junqueira, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Junqueira is a dedicated veterinarian, researcher, and professor specializing in Wildlife and Zoo Animal Medicine, animal comparative anatomy, and Conservation Medicine. He is actively working as a member of the IUCN’s Amphibian Specialist Group in Brazil, providing strong support for amphibian conservation in South America. Iago also has a passion for teaching and loves sharing his knowledge and experience through classes, lectures, and courses. He is the author of amphibian chapters in books such as Fowler’s Zoo and Wild Animal Medicine (11th edition).

He has already worked in zoos and wildlife rescue centers and is currently enrolled in a PhD program in Comparative Anatomy, filling gaps in wildlife anatomy knowledge. Besides all of that, he loves to travel, experience different cultures, learn as many random facts as possible, and admire animals in their natural habitat.
