Ismail Hirji, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Izzy Hirji is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with an honours B.Sc. in Zoology from Ontario Veterinary College at theĀ  University of Guelph.

He has a background in domestic and wildlife medicine, pathology, and conservation, and has trained at several zoos and sanctuaries in this both in North America and abroad.

He currently works as a locum vet in downtown Toronto with a special expertise in exotics. He also runs a mobile practice for exotic companion animals, wildlife centres, and animal sanctuaries and he supports local and international primate sanctuaries and wildlife conservation initiatives in Africa.

Dr. Izzy was recently featured on the 2020 Nat Geo Wild series “Jungle Animal Rescue” and on the 2017 Nat Geo Wild documentary “Chimp School”. He is extremely passionate about environmental conservation and One Health.

Aside from veterinary medicine, he is an avid photographer, cyclist, and web designer, and he loves to travel to tropical exotic places (beaches and forests are preferred, of course!).
