Kaley Garcia

Teaching Assistant

Kaley Garcia was born and raised in California, where her love for animals began at a very young age. There has never been a time in her life when she was not surrounded by animals. Growing up, she spent time helping her paternal grandmother care for goats and chickens, assisting with feeding goats and bottle feeding young kids. These early experiences helped inspire her passion for animal care and welfare. Kaley began her animal-care journey as a volunteer at a local animal shelter, where she was responsible for walking and socializing dogs and assisting with pet adoptions. Through these experiences, she developed a strong appreciation for the human-animal bond and the importance of animal welfare. She later participated in an international veterinary and wildlife program, back in 2024, where she had the opportunity to observe and work alongside Asian elephants. She also gained hands-on experience in a veterinary clinic setting, observing and assisting with canine and feline spay and neuter procedures. Kaley began her academic journey at a community college, where she earned two AAs: one in Mathematics and Science and another in Liberal Arts. She then transferred to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Pre-Veterinary Studies. Professionally, Kaley works as a veterinary assistant in a small animal hospital, caring for cats and dogs and supporting veterinary staff in providing quality patient care. Through her education, volunteer work, and professional experiences, she has worked with a diverse range of animals, from mice to large exotic animals. In her free time, Kaley enjoys crocheting, painting, drawing, cooking, baking, and DIY projects. She also loves creating floral arrangements and spending time with her beloved Husky-German Shepherd mix. Her passion for animals, learning, and creativity continues to guide both her personal and professional pursuits.
