Kariangi Gonzalez is a pre‑veterinary student from Haverhill, MA currently earning her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University of New Hampshire. She discovered her passion for animal care early on while attending a technical and agricultural high school, where she studied behavior, husbandry, and training in the Companion Animals program. Kariangi works in both a veterinary diagnostics laboratory and a veterinary emergency and urgent care clinic. She volunteers at local animal shelters and has worked with a variety of species, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rodents, and other small mammals. In 2023, she traveled to Midrand, South Africa for a zoo and wildlife veterinary program at Lory Park Zoo, where she gained hands‑on experience with big and small cats, primates, and birds. At UNH, she serves as President of the UNH Zoological Society, helping plan events and trips for students interested in wildlife and veterinary careers. In her free time, Kariangi enjoys hiking, reading fantasy novels, and spending time with her rescue dog, Buster. She also has a lifelong love for hedgehogs, inspired by her childhood hedgehog, Primrose.
