Karissa Turk
Support Staff
Karissa grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Small Animal Science from Delaware Valley University in December 2024, and began veterinary school at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in August 2025. She aspires to become a mixed animal veterinarian and experience the “best of both worlds” in the veterinary field. Although she grew up exclusively around small animals, Karissa developed a passion for large animal medicine after working on a farm caring for horses and pet cows. This led to an opportunity shadowing an equine veterinarian, where she was introduced to equine wellness, ambulatory medicine, and sports medicine. Additionally, she has 3 years of experience as an unlicensed veterinary technician in small animal general practice. Throughout her journey, she discovered a passion for giving back to the community through volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center and aims to continue working with wildlife throughout her veterinary career. Karissa participated in the Loop Abroad Thailand Pre-Vet program in July 2024. She valued gaining new perspectives on veterinary medicine and contributing to animal welfare while being immersed in a new culture. She is excited to work as support staff with Loop Abroad, where she looks forward to sharing her passion of veterinary medicine, connecting with students, and helping to create meaningful and memorable experiences!
