Katelyn Skufca
Trip Leader
Kate Skufca is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is graduating from Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences in May 2026, with hopes to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. Kate grew up with many pets, including her dog, Ozzy. Back home in Cincinnati, Kate is a Veterinary Assistant at a small animal clinic, where she has been working with dogs and cats since 2021. Before that, Kate was a medicator at a cat rescue while she was in high school. During the summer of 2023, she volunteered with Primates at the Cincinnati Zoo, gaining experiences with feeding, enrichment, and species conservation. In Columbus, Kate volunteers with Dreams on Horseback, an Assisted Equine Therapy organization. Kate loves working with the young riders and watching how much their time on the horses positively impacts them. In June of 2024, Kate traveled to Belize with Loop Abroad. Over the two weeks, she worked with dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, and cows. The experiences she had on this trip were extremely impactful, and Kate is so excited to help her students make unforgettable memories on their trips! In her free time, Kate enjoys running. She has run two half marathons, and eventually hopes to run a full marathon! She loves the water- her whole extended family spends a week together on Lake Erie every summer, and Kate loves to boat and swim. Her favorite sports team is the Ohio State Buckeyes, and as a student likes to watch their football games in the Fall. She also loves to travel and is always down for a new adventure!
