Kat earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2025, graduating with honors in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the University of California, Davis as an incoming second-year veterinary student, where she is continuing to build her clinical and community-focused veterinary skills. She has gained diverse hands-on experience working in small animal and shelter medicine settings. Her roles have included serving as a veterinary assistant at a cat and dog pet hospital, working as a pharmacy assistant at the UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and acting as a feline coordinator for the Yolo SPCA. She has also worked in a unique role as a lead “cat herder” at a cat café, further strengthening her expertise in feline behavior and handling. Her animal experience is primarily with cats and dogs, with minor exposure to wildlife and exotic species through Loop Abroad programs. Her global veterinary training includes participation in a four-week wildlife conservation and veterinary medicine internship in Thailand and a two-week pre-veterinary wildlife medicine program in Australia. She enjoys volunteering with access-to-care initiatives, including Skid Row pet clinics through K9 Connection and trap-neuter-return (TNR) clinics through the Sacramento SPCA. She is particularly passionate about kitten fostering and expanding access to veterinary care through high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) and TNR programs. In her free time, she enjoys arts and crafts, including painting, drawing, and making balloon animals. Outside of the U.S., she has traveled to Mexico, China, Japan, Australia, and Thailand, and hopes to visit destinations such as South Africa, Antarctica, and Italy. At home, she cares for her two cats, Bagel and Yuzu, and her husky Brownie.
