Lydia Phillips

Assistant Program Leader

Originally from the UK, Lydia moved to Australia in 2015 and took the opportunity to pursue a career related to her favourite thing – animals! Completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2021, she has spent the time since graduating encouraging and teaching other nurses to embrace the full scope of their role, and is an advocate for national registration and accreditation of veterinary nurses in Australia. Working in accredited clinics in regional towns of the Northern Territory, she has been privileged to work with many different animals, ranging from kangaroos and koalas, to baboons and lions. Alongside her clinical work, she has also volunteered with Asian elephants in Thailand and a variety of African wildlife during conservation work in South Africa. Aside from her veterinary work, Lydia has also travelled parts of North America, Iceland, Europe, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. She finds new cultures and different wildlife fascinating! At home, Lydia can often be found reading a book on the couch with her two dogs, Baxter and Spud, going for a run or hike, or sampling a new restaurant.
