Malea Holmes

Thailand Support Staff

Malea received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Biosciences from The University of Georgia in May 2024. She is going to attend The University of Arizona to pursue her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. During the summer of 2023, Malea participated in the Loop Abroad Thailand Pre-Vet program, which deepened her passion for veterinary medicine and gave her amazing hands-on experience. She was able to attend the program with the support of the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship and is excited to contribute to improving the experience for future students. Malea’s career aspirations are focused on exotics and wildlife medicine. During her gap year, she worked as a veterinary assistant for a small animal clinic that also provided emergency care. This experience solidified her interest in working with diverse animal species and improved her critical care skills and clinical practice. One of her most memorable and rewarding moments so far, has been working with sloths in Costa Rica. In her free time, Malea enjoys staying active through pilates, yoga, and playing tennis or pickle ball.
