Veterinarian

Dr. Mariacamila Garcia Estrella, MPH, DVM, is a Colombian American graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also earned her Bachelor’s in Animal Science (2017) and Master’s in Public Health (2021). With a strong passion for One Health and Conservation, Dr. Camila has worked globally with renowned organizations dedicated to wildlife preservation. Her diverse veterinary experience includes working with chimpanzees in the Congo (Jane Goodall Institute), rhinos in Indonesia (WWF Indonesia), and cheetahs in Namibia (Cheetah Conservation Fund). She has conducted research on Magellanic penguins in Patagonia, public health research on fishing practices in Cambodia, and collaborated with alpaca farmers in Peru. Additionally, Dr. Camila has contributed to wildlife rehabilitation efforts in South Africa and Florida, and participated in spay and neuter campaigns in Honduras. Currently, Dr. Camila works as a Mixed Animal Veterinarian at Cape Veterinary Hospital in Southern New Jersey, caring for a wide range of patients from domestic animals to exotics and farm animals. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of wildlife conservationists and veterinarians, which she pursues through her work with Loop Abroad. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Camila enjoys dancing various genres, swimming, outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
