Mikaela Fowler earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Berry College and is pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Lincoln Memorial University. Her passion for animal care has been a consistent part of her life, beginning with her involvement in FFA, where she showed pigs, and continuing through her work in veterinary clinics and animal-related settings. Throughout her academic and professional experiences, Mikaela has developed a strong interest in hands-on veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and learning through service. She has worked with a variety of animals in both agricultural and clinical environments, experiences that have helped shape her approach to veterinary care and strengthened her commitment to the field. During her undergraduate years, she also participated in a veterinary experience in Thailand, where she further expanded her understanding of animal care in an international setting. Mikaela enjoys traveling and values the opportunity to connect with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Her travels have taken her to Mexico, Nicaragua, Scotland, Canada, and Thailand, each for different purposes and experiences, all of which have contributed to her appreciation for global perspectives and cultural exchange. In her free time, Mikaela enjoys embroidery and sewing, which allow her to express creativity outside of veterinary medicine. She also loves spending time with her two cats, Maggot and Flea, whose unusual names come from the circumstances in which they were first brought into a clinic. Their story has remained a memorable reminder of the meaningful and sometimes unexpected connections that come with working in animal care.
