Nandita Chittajallu

Teaching Assistant, Belize

Nandita is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, but currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin, where she attends veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin. Her primary focus is small animal medicine but she has a wide breadth of experience with other species. She has a background in wildlife rehabilitation and volunteers with the local Madison Audubon society on several citizen science projects. She has also volunteered at a parrot sanctuary and petsits for exotics. She worked for several years in a low-cost, high-volume veterinary clinic and currently works in a small animal private practice. Prior to joining Loop Abroad staff, Nandita had been a student in the Large Animal Veterinary Practice in the Tropics course based in San Ignacio, Belize. She is very excited to return to Belize and share her love of veterinary medicine and Belizean culture with her students. Nandita has a special love of teaching and has taught courses in introductory biology and vertebrate zoology labs while she was in graduate school. When she isn’t busy with school or cuddling with her cats, she loves traveling, hiking, birdwatching, cooking, and wildlife photography.
