Veterinarian
Raphael is a Brazilian veterinarian who loves both humans and non-humans animals. Besides the vet school graduation, he has a master’s degree in animal biology from Campinas State University and post-graduate degree in palliative care and pain therapy in human medicine, starting palliative medicine in the area of exotic animals in Brazil. Since childhood, Raphael has been in love with sloths and reached the dream of taking care of them when he joined the Sloth Study, Management and Conservation Program in 2013, since then he works with their medicine, research and environmental education. In addition, he works with exotic and wild animals palliative medicine, taking care of animals, owners and staff during the process of illness, end-of-life and mourning. The most attended patients are rabbits, rodents, hedgehogs, possums, cockatiels, parrots, canaries and tortoises. He loves to draw animals with charcoal! Being with his cat (Joggling’s) and his dog (Dexter) is one of his favorite activities, as well as drawing, cooking, singing Disney songs and taking care of his (lots of) plants.
