Roehm Bergen

Trip Leader

Meet Roehm, the animal-loving adventurer from Calgary, Canada! Roehm recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Health under a pre-veterinary concentration from the University of Alberta. She has always had a very strong passion for wildlife conservation and zoo medicine and is so thrilled to be part of the amazing Loop Abroad family and its incredible mission. She attended the Global Veterinary Semester Abroad in 2022 and traveled to Ecuador, Thailand, and South Africa. She loved being able to work with so many species of animals around the world as well as Loop Abroad veterinarians from diverse backgrounds. Some of her most cherished moments from her semester abroad were learning from the elephant veterinarians at Elephant Nature Park, going on conservation dives and getting her advanced scuba certification in Thailand and the Galapagos, and aiding in big cat conservation research in South Africa. Back home in Canada, Roehm worked at Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary and was a Veterinary Assistant at multiple small animal clinics. In addition to this, she loved spending her free time volunteering at the Calgary Zoo and a therapeutic horse riding association. She can’t wait to return to Thailand as a Trip Leader at Elephant Nature Park as it has a very special place in her heart and she is overjoyed to spend more time with all of the rescued animals and elephants, including her favourite girl, Chuan Chom. Roehm’s next big adventure after working with Loop Abroad will be a veterinary internship in the Costa Rican rainforest working with rescued wildlife for a few months. She is so excited to continue working abroad with animals and wildlife conservation and plans on attending veterinary school in Australia in the near future. Her ultimate goal is to come back and work with Loop Abroad again but as a wildlife veterinarian!
