Support Staff

Sammy has loved animals for as long as she can remember! As a teenager, she began volunteering at her local animal shelter and, not long after, began fostering kittens. While obtaining her BS in Animal Science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she gained lots of hands-on experience with animals. Her favorites include running a kitten foster program at a student-led cat shelter, being a student manager for Cal Poly’s foaling enterprise, volunteering in a local animal shelter’s spay/neuter clinic, and working at a small animal emergency hospital. During this time, she enjoyed her first experience with Loop Abroad at a wildlife rescue center in Costa Rica! Now attending veterinary school at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, she seeks to gain more experience with different animals in a variety of places. So far, she has worked with dairy cattle in Switzerland, sheep in Northern Ireland, horses in England, wildlife in her home state of California, and birds of prey in Scotland. Her dream is to participate in international low-cost spay/neuter clinics in places of need. In her free time, Sammy enjoys bouldering, distance running, playing soccer, roller skating, attending concerts, and going on adventures. When she visits her family in California, she enjoys cuddling with her cat Nezi in the sun, playing her piano, and traveling with her family. She enjoys trying new things, especially when they are in the great outdoors. She cannot wait to meet her Loop Abroad students, share stories and opportunities with them, and create amazing new memories together!
