Shehnav Sekhon, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Sekhon is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno. During his undergraduate studies, he served six years in the Nevada Air Force National Guard as an Avionics Technician before pursuing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University, where he graduated in 2021. After completing veterinary school, Dr. Sekhon began practicing small animal medicine in San Diego, California, where he continues to live with his wife, Nicole, their two dogs, two cats, and a tarantula. Over the past several years, his professional focus has evolved from general and surgical practice toward the intersection of veterinary medicine, sustainable agriculture, and One Health. He is particularly interested in how veterinarians can help build resilient food systems and influence environmental health policy on both local and international scales. Dr. Sekhon’s professional experience spans community-based clinical work, telemedicine innovation, and mentoring within equitable veterinary practice models. He is passionate about improving communication and accessibility in veterinary care, while supporting initiatives that connect animal health with environmental stewardship and public well-being. Originally having lived in India for three years as a child, Dr. Sekhon later spent time backpacking across eleven European countries and visiting several South American destinations. He enjoys learning from new cultures and ecosystems, an influence that continues to shape his work and worldview. In his spare time, he can often be found freediving, surfing, mountain biking, or gardening—always looking for ways to combine curiosity, connection, and adventure in his daily life.
