Stephanie Shaw, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Shaw was born in California but raised in Iowa. She knew she wanted to be a wildlife vet from the age of 10 after watching Wild Kingdom as a child. After highschool she went back to her roots in California and enrolled in the Moorpark College Exotic Animal Training and Management Program due to her love of dog training. However, she soon realised she definitely wanted to pursue veterinary medicine so she transferred to UC Davis and received her BS in Wildlife Biology with Honors, BS Veterinary Science and finally her DVM in the Wildlife Health Track. Stephanie then mixed up the next 10 years with education, family and travel. She landed in New Zealand after completing an AVMA Fellowship in Wildlife Law, an internship in small animal medicine and sailing from California to New Zealand. Dr. Shaw went on to have 4 children and completed a PhD on Disease in NZ Native Frogs while completing a Conservation Medicine Residency at Auckland Zoo. She then moved with her family to Australia and currently works for the state of Queensland as a wildlife vet. Her real passion in vet medicine remains in wildlife conservation and ensuring animal welfare needs are met on every project. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with family, walking her dogs, weightlifting and horseback riding. She is always looking a new active travel adventure and is often planning horseback riding trips to new lands or walking endless trails all over the world.
