Tuppence Mellish, DVM
Veterinarian
Tuppence is a mixed animal veterinarian from the United Kingdom. She grew up across various parts of rural Scotland and graduated from The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, The University of Edinburgh in 2021 with a Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery. After university she moved to Canada for a year to work as a mixed animal vet with a strong focus on dairy work. She then spent six months working in New Zealand doing mixed practice again before taking a sabbatical for six months. After her sabbatical Tuppence spent several months working in mixed practice back home in Scotland, before taking on a short-term locum stint down in the Falkland Islands. After finishing in the Falklands she came back to the UK and started working at her current job in Herefordshire. Tuppence enjoys working with all species but particularly enjoys production animal work and small animal surgery. Tuppence has an interest in wildlife and conservation medicine and completed a certificate in Wildlife Veterinary Medicine and Conservation from Purdue University in 2023. She is also pursuing a Masters of Advanced Clinical Practice at The University of Edinburgh, alongside her work as a practicing vet. Outside of work Tuppence’s main interests are outdoor activities and adventures. In 2023 she took a sabbatical in order to be part of a team of 8 that attempted to row through the infamous Northwest Passage. She was the only female and youngest crew member on this expedition and they spent over a month on the expedition. Before starting the expedition, she travelled by boat to Canada via Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland in order to deliver the team’s 45ft long ocean rowing vessel to the start of the expedition. In February 2026 Tuppence volunteered as a veterinarian for a long-distance sled dog race in Sweden where she learnt about the sport of sled dog racing and met Mushers from around Europe. When she isn’t working or travelling Tuppence likes to get out and about around her home. She enjoys cycling, walking and paddle-boarding on the local river with her dog Maple.
