Loop Abroad Wins Bronze Anthem Award for Rhino Dehorning Mission in South Africa

Loop Abroad’s Rhino Dehorning Mission in South Africa has won bronze in the Anthem Awards for Sustainability, Environment, and Climate category. Loop Abroad has been recognized for its mission-driven work and commitment to conservation in the animal welfare space.

The Anthem Awards honors the purpose-driven efforts of individuals, businesses, and organizations globally. They work towards setting and promoting a new standard of social impact work to prompt others to take action. Loop Abroad strives to provide a transformative experience and innovative approach to veterinary students, veterinary technicians, and others in the field to contribute to vital wildlife conservation efforts.

Dehorning is a vital tool in the fight to protect rhinos from extinction. The biggest threat to rhinos is poaching, and by safely removing their horns, the rhinos lose their value to poachers and can continue to live long lives in the wild. Loop Abroad’s Rhino Dehorning Mission provides participants a chance to directly contribute to these conservation efforts and work alongside experts in the field helping to dehorn wild rhinos safely and humanely, increasing their chances of survival as individuals and as a species. This program is offered to veterinarians, vet techs, veterinary nurses, clinical year vet students, and individuals with a conservation background.

Loop Abroad recognizes the hard work and commitment to excellence of every member of its team, without whom this achievement would not have been possible. Loop Abroad’s Managing Director, Jane Stine, shares “The rhino dehorning programs are an amazing achievement. Our team has worked tirelessly to connect with experts across South Africa to support their rhino dehorning missions, and we’re seeing a real impact of that work in the field. It is truly amazing to be up close to these wild animals in a way that helps to protect them from harm.”
