St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and Loop Abroad are proud to announce an exciting scholarship opportunity! For all Loop Abroad in-person program participants in 2025, St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine will offer a $10,000 scholarship to SMUSVM.
Loop Abroad offers students the opportunity to study all over the world in credit-granting pre-veterinary programs. St. Matthew’s University offers students the opportunity to continue to combine their passions for veterinary medicine and study abroad by completing their vet school education abroad in the Cayman Islands. This scholarship helps to make one veterinary school option more affordable and accessible for Loop Abroad students.
About St. Matthew’s University
St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine, located on Grand Cayman in Cayman Islands, in the Caribbean. The school offers a modern gross anatomy lab and a full complement of well-equipped classrooms and auditoriums with the latest multimedia technologies. A fully equipped Clinical Skills Training Center provides a home environment for the teaching, assessment, and improvement of clinical and patient communication skills. First semester students live in comfortable dorms just minutes away from the classrooms.
U.S. students do their clinical rotations across Canada and North America at credentialed teaching hospitals and are eligible to participate in both the U.S. National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS).
SMUSVM is not accredited by the AVMA COE, but its graduates can and do practice veterinary medicine in the USA. SMUSVM’s charter allows it to be listed with the AVMA, which allows graduates to register with the ECFVG. Graduates can become licensed to practice in the US by completing either the PAVE or the ECFVG. After completing either program, graduates are eligible to take the NAVLE and become licensed to practice in the USA.

This scholarship is not available to individuals who have applied to SMUSVM before participating in their Loop Abroad program. The availability of this scholarship does not guarantee any person admission to SMUSVM. This scholarship has no cash value and is not transferable or redeemable. Scholarship is given as a discount on tuition. Scholarship is a one-time $10,000 USD credit toward tuition, which would be dispersed in a pro-rated manner over four years of study. Scholarship recipients will only receive the scholarship as a discount on tuition in years that they attend their degree-granting program at SMUSVM. Scholarship is offered by St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and not by Loop Abroad – Loop Abroad is not liable for any scholarship payments to SMUSVM.
